Coatings are usually applied to plastic substrates in a single layer. High-quality stabilized metallic pigments are used to achieve striking designs, often in combination with other effect pigments (pearlescent, gold-bronze, Aloxal). Encapsulated aluminium pigments (e.g. Stapa® Hydrolan) are also used when the coating to be produced must provide electrical insulation.
