Zinc pigments

Particle shape and functionality

Corrosion protection is an essential area in the broad field of coatings applications. The anti-corrosive properties of zinc have been well-known for decades. Zinc flakes (leaf-shaped zinc pigments) represent an almost ideal combination of the active anti-corrosive properties of the metal itself with the protective barrier effect of leaf-shaped pigments (passive corrosion protection).

Zinc with a purity of 99,995% is used as the basis for the ECKART zinc flakes. Atomised zinc powder is either wet or dry milled in ball mills and thus deformed and broken down to form flakes. In subsequent stages, the pigments are then classified in accordance with the relevant application.
ECKART offers zinc pigments of various particle sizes, as well as in paste and powder form, for corrosion protection.
