Overview of Changing Regulations

At ECKART, we are committed to helping you navigate the evolving landscape of printing ink regulations. In this seminar, we will explain the latest legal requirements for printing inks under the French regulation banning mineral oils and the new MOSH (Mineral Oil Saturated Hydrocarbons) and MOAH (Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons) limit values coming into effect in 2025.

Health and Environmental Risks

Mineral oil hydrocarbons, including MOSH and MOAH, pose significant health and environmental risks when found in consumer goods. MOSH can accumulate in human tissues, while MOAH contains potentially carcinogenic compounds. Some MOAH substances are classified as CMR, indicating they can cause cancer, genetic mutations, or reproductive harm.

France's Implementation Timeline

Since France implemented regulations in 2023 to prevent the contamination of packaging through mineral oil-based printing inks, further restrictions will be enforced starting in 2025.

ECKART's Response and Proactive Adjustments

ECKART, as a global leader in metallic pigments and printing inks, has proactively adjusted its product portfolio to meet these new requirements. In addition to our established mineral oil-free offset inks and our FPG series designed specifically for food packaging, we have introduced new product lines, including MetalStar and TopStar Eco / SuperEco series, which serve as advanced replacements for older, mineral oil-based formulations.

Compliance and Product Safety

Through a comprehensive analysis of all raw materials and production processes, ECKART guarantees full compliance with the new regulations while maintaining the highest standards of product safety.

Join Our Seminar

We invite you to join us as we explain the updated regulations, address the challenges—particularly those related to instrumental analysis—and outline the steps we have taken to transition to mineral oil-free metallic inks and pigments.
