During the bicycle boom triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, ECKART recognized an opportunity: to develop exclusive metallic shades for bicycle frames similar to those in the automotive industry.

Initial contacts were made through targeted cold calling in bicycle shops and social media outreach, sparking interest in the new target group.

The biggest challenge was the supply chain. The bicycle industry operates like a close-knit family, with each manufacturer having different processes. ECKART needed to ensure its metallic pigments were used. This required intensive coordination with paint suppliers and factories to compare color systems and toners and optimize processes.
